Hi, I'm Omer.
I'm Omer. I'm from New Jersey, and I help run a halal meat market here that's been in my family for 28 years. The last year is when I got deeply involved — and that's when I started seeing all the places the industry leaves money on the floor.
My background isn't pure tech. I have a BA in Economics and Journalism from Rutgers, and I picked up an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and CompTIA A+ along the way because I wanted to be able to build the things I kept wishing existed. Those aren't the impressive parts of my resume — the impressive part is that I've actually stood on the cutting floor and I know what these tools need to do.
Every piece of HalalHelper started as a problem I personally hit. The 3D yield engine: I was tired of guessing what a carcass was worth before I bought it. The auction prediction model: I got tired of overpaying at the barn. The directory: I needed to know who else was operating in the market. The websites: every halal business I saw online looked like it was built in 2008.
HalalHelper isn't a tech startup that wandered into halal meat. It's the opposite — an operator who learned to build software because the tools he needed didn't exist.
If you run a halal meat business and any of this sounds useful, reach out. I probably understand your problems better than any software company ever will, because I have the same ones.
What I stand for.
Operator-Built
Built by someone who's worked the counter, driven to auction, and calculated yield by hand.
No Fluff
If it doesn't solve a real problem, I don't build it.
